The American Superbike racing Association (ASRA) has unveiled an exciting new addition to its 2026 calendar: the inaugural Dunlop Unlimited Superbike Shootout. This high-stakes event will take place during the Race of Champions weekend at the iconic Daytona International Speedway from October 15–18, 2026.
The shootout promises to be a spectacle of speed and skill, with Amateur and Expert riders competing together on the track. The event is sponsored by Dunlop Motorcycle Tires which has pledged a combined $5,000 prize purse, ensuring that both divisions have substantial rewards on the line.
The Dunlop Unlimited Superbike Shootout: A Clash of Titans
The shootout will be contested as a single race, with results and prize money scored separately for each division. The Expert division will compete for a total of $3,000 with the top five finishers receiving $1,200$750$500$300 and $250 respectively. Meanwhile, the Amateur division will vie for a $2,000 purse, with payouts of $800$500$300$250 and $150 for the top five.
To be eligible for the prize money, riders must have started at least one official ASRA points-paying race during the 2026 season. This rule is designed to reward those who have supported the series throughout the year, adding an extra layer of competition and commitment.
Daytona: The Perfect Stage for a Superbike Showdown
Scott Gilbert an ASRA Partner, emphasized the significance of hosting the event at Daytona. “Daytona is the right place for a high-stakes Unlimited Superbike shootout“, he stated. “Putting Amateur and Expert riders in the same race, with real money on the line in both divisions, should produce a great show. We’re grateful to Dunlop for making that possible.”
Dunlop Motorcycle Tires a key partner of ASRA, has added its support to this special event. Chad Geer a Dunlop representative, highlighted the importance of recognizing the riders’ hard work. “Our riders compete hard all season“, he said. “A dedicated Daytona shootout that pays both Amateur and Expert is a strong way to recognize that commitment.”
Future Plans and Live Streaming
If the Daytona event meets ASRA’s expectations in terms of field size and racing intensity, the organization plans to expand the format in 2027. Early discussions include a short series of Unlimited Superbike Shootouts at selected ASRA rounds, culminating again at Daytona. This would feature a season-long points fund and similar Amateur/Expert payouts. The final plans for 2027 will depend on rider response, sponsor support, and the results of this year’s inaugural race.
