The BMW M2 xDrive has made a spectacular debut as the prize car for the 2026 BMW M Awardunveiled during the MotoGP Grand Prix of Hungary at the Balaton Park Circuit. This marks a significant milestone as the first BMW M2 to feature all-wheel drivesetting a new standard in performance and versatility.

The unveiling was a highlight of the event, with Carlos EzpeletaChief Sporting Officer at MotoGP, and Zsuzsanna PócsHead of Marketing at BMW Group Hungary, presenting the car. Following the reveal, Becky Evans and MotoGP rider Jorge Martín took the M2 xDrive for a spin in the BMW M Racing Balance challenge, showcasing its exceptional handling and all-wheel-drive capabilities.

The BMW M2 xDrive: A New Era of Performance

The BMW M2 xDrive is a groundbreaking addition to the M2 family, featuring an advanced all-wheel-drive system that ensures optimal traction in all conditions. Powered by a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technologythe M2 xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, 0.3 seconds quicker than its rear-wheel-drive counterpart.

The car’s exterior is equally impressive, featuring the exclusive BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue paint finish. This color scheme is a first for the BMW M2 lineup, adding a touch of luxury and exclusivity to the performance-oriented vehicle.

The BMW M Award: Honoring MotoGP’s Fastest Qualifier

Since 2003, the BMW M Award has been a cornerstone of the MotoGP season, recognizing the fastest qualifier with an exclusive BMW M high-performance automobile. The award is presented at the season finale, with points awarded in each qualifying session following the same system as the races.

Notable winners of the BMW M Award include Marc Márquezwho holds the record with eight wins, and Francesco Bagnaiawith three victories. Other legendary riders such as Valentino RossiCasey Stonerand Jorge Lorenzo have also claimed the honor.

The BMW M Racing Balance Challenge: A Test of Skill and Precision

Following the unveiling, Becky Evans and Jorge Martín participated in the BMW M Racing Balance challenge, a unique test of driving skill and precision. The challenge involves the driver pushing the car to its limits while the passenger tries to keep a bowl of balls from spilling, demonstrating the M2 xDrive’s exceptional balance and handling.
