The Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America delivered a thrilling conclusion as Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) emerged victorious after a two-year hiatus in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R piloted by Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor crossed the finish line first in a race marked by chaos and multiple restarts. This victory, their first since Detroit in June 2026 was a testament to the team’s resilience and determination.
The Path to Victory
Albuquerque took the lead from Jack Aitken in the No. 31 Cadillac with just under 90 minutes remaining. The race, extended to six hours, featured nine cautions and numerous penalties, creating a challenging environment for all competitors.
The No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963 driven by Laurin HeinrichKaylen Frederick and Tijmen van der Helm secured second place. WTR’s No. 40 Cadillac with Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz at the wheel, completed the podium in third.
A Team Effort
Ricky Taylor emphasized the collective effort that led to the victory. “This is more than just a win” he said. “It’s a full team effort. We’ve faced many challenges, but the support from Cadillac and the belief in our team kept us going.”
Wayne Taylor, the team principal, expressed his relief and pride. “The last 18 months have been the hardest for me in motorsports. To see our hard work pay off with a win and a third-place finish is incredible. This shows our dedication and focus as a team.”
Other Class Winners
In the LMP2 class, the Inter Europol Competition team secured their second consecutive victory with Jeremy ClarkeBijoy Garg and Tom Dillmann in the No. 43 ORECA LMP2 07.
The GTD Pro class saw Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell win in the No. 9 Lamborghini Temerario GT3 entered by Pfaff Motorsports. Meanwhile, Winward Racing captured their second straight victory in the GTD class with Russell WardPhilip Ellis and Indy Dontje in the No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The race was a rollercoaster of emotions, with multiple incidents and penalties adding to the drama. The official results were delayed as IMSA reviewed an incident between the No. 31 Cadillac and No. 6 Porsche.
The next races for the GTD Pro and GTD classes will be the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway on August 23.
