During an appearance on the Beyond The Grid podcast, Idris highlighted the film’s unique ability to appeal to a broad audience. ‘The brilliance of F1 The Movie is that it was a film you could take your whole family to,’ he explained. ‘You can go with your grandparents, your kids, your parents—it’s a rare movie that brings everyone together.’

Idris also joked about his desire to improve his driving skills for any potential sequel. ‘This time I’d definitely take the advice of doing the espresso shots a bit more often to gain a couple more seconds,’ he said, referencing the film’s portrayal of drivers’ rigorous training regimens. ‘No more banana peanut butter smoothies for me, I’m going to shed the weight even more.’

Idris admitted that his involvement in F1 The Movie has opened doors he never expected. ‘It really has changed my life,’ he confessed. ‘I was the young actor that was on Snowfall and then this movie just kind of catapulted me into a new stratosphere.’
As a newly appointed Global Brand Ambassador for F1 Idris has embraced the opportunities that come with his newfound status. He emphasized the importance of taking on roles that challenge him, much like his experience as a Formula 1 racer in the film.
Idris concluded by expressing his gratitude for the role and the experiences it brought. ‘I think the roles I take have to be roles that give me the same feeling that F1 gave me—taking on a new trade, a new skill, and being able to brag at family Christmas dinners that I’m a Formula 1 racer.’
