City of Industry: Hazmat spill causes hours-long freeway closure

About 9:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was advised of the leak on the southbound side of the freeway just north of the 60 Freeway. Officers initially shut down one, then two lanes of the freeway, but as of about 1:30 p.m., all lanes of the freeway were shut down in both directions. Around 2:45 p.m., all northbound lanes of the 605 Freeway were reopened to traffic.
The CHP initially reopened all southbound lanes about 30 minutes later, however, at about 3:56 p.m., they closed the #3 and #4 lanes due to a traffic hazard. They reopened all lanes at about 7 p.m. The cause of the leak is still under investigation.
