How to register and race at 2026 Permco AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days

Registration is underway for the 2026 Permco AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio; get key details on racing classes, awards and entry requirements

The Permco AMA vintage motorcycle Days, presented by Turn 14 Distribution, will return to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, July 24-26. Racing registration is now open and competitors are encouraged to sign up at VintageMotorcycleDays.com/racing/ to claim a starting position. The festival blends competition with a festival atmosphere, inviting vintage-bike enthusiasts to race, display and trade, and to engage with a variety of activities centered on historical motorcycles and racing culture.

This gathering emphasizes vintage racing across a wide array of formats. On the 2.4-mile road circuit at Mid-Ohio and on off-road tracks built for the event, riders on machines from different eras will line up. Organizers stress that the event is designed for participants from many disciplines, and the AMA staff encourages early registration so entrants can secure gate access and class placement. Information on classes, age limits and entry procedures is available on the official site, and prospective racers should review those details before completing registration.

What disciplines and trophies are on offer

Competitors will find a full slate of events including trials, motocross, hare scrambles, flat track, pitbike racing and traditional road racing on Mid-Ohio’s famed layout. Riders compete for AMA honors such as the AMA National No. 1 plate in their respective classes, and at the conclusion of three days of competition the organization will name overall award winners: the AMA Vintage Grand Champion and the AMA Vet/Senior Vintage Grand Champion, which recognize riders who perform across motocross, hare scrambles and trials. The program aims to celebrate both individual event success and all-around vintage-racing excellence.

Special series and marquee races

For the second consecutive year the event will host the King’s Cup and the Golden Cup, spotlighting air-cooled machines reminiscent of the era when AMA Hall of Famer Broc Glover raced at the sport’s highest levels. Those matchups will return to the motocross track and are intended to highlight period-correct bikes and the visceral experience they provide. On the road-racing side, the weekend also crowns the AMA Amateur National Bagger Champion on Saturday, July 25, adding a unique, head-turning contest to the event schedule.

Flat track and offsite competition

Not all action stays inside the Mid-Ohio complex: a round of the AMA Vintage Flat Track National Championship Series is scheduled for July 26 at the Ashland County Fairgrounds, roughly 25 miles from Lexington. That flat track program runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and expands the vintage racing footprint in the region. This coordination between venues provides riders and fans a chance to experience a different style of competition and to sample more of Ohio’s classic race venues during the same weekend.

Entry requirements, access and age limits

All racers must have general admission tickets before they can enter the grounds to race. Only racers who pre-register and receive confirmation will be admitted through Gate 3 beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 23; general admission gates open later that day at 5 p.m. The AMA offers an optional Fast Pass for pre-registered competitors: for $50 this pass allows early access as soon as 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22 and remains valid until 6 p.m. on that same Wednesday. Pre-registered off-road entrants will receive a follow-up email from the AMA with instructions for purchasing the Fast Pass.

Minimum age by discipline

Minimum age requirements are in place to match riders with safe and appropriate classes: trials competitors must be at least 4 years old, motocross and hare scrambles require a minimum age of 9, flat track competitors must be 12 or older, road race entrants need to be at least 14, and pitbike racing requires participants to be 16 or older. These age limits are intended to protect younger riders while preserving the competitive integrity of each class.

Beyond racing: show, swap meet and ticketing

In addition to competition, VMD hosts North America’s largest motorcycle swap meet, the Motorcycle Classics AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Bike Show, factory demo rides, seminars and a broad array of vendor displays. Tickets and additional event updates are available at VintageMotorcycleDays.com/tickets/, and fans can sign up for the AMA VMD Newsletter or follow the event on the official VMDFacebook and VMDInstagram pages to receive the latest schedule advisories, class updates and logistical notices. Early planning and registration ensure participants and spectators can make the most of the three-day celebration of vintage motorcycles.
