The average price of gas in the United States stands at $3.831 per gallon this week. Diesel, meanwhile, costs $4.668 per gallon, maintaining a spread of $0.837 between the two fuels.
Prices have moved in the right direction for drivers this week. Gas costs 2.12% less than last week, when the average price was $3.914 per gallon. Diesel has seen an even steeper drop, falling by 3.39% over the same period.
Across the country, prices vary significantly. California remains the most expensive state for gas, with an average price of $5.245 per gallon. New York also ranks among the pricier states, with gas costing $3.978 per gallon. On the other end of the spectrum, Texas offers the cheapest gas in the nation, with an average price of $3.230 per gallon. Florida also provides a bargain, with gas costing $3.689 per gallon.
These figures come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), which tracks fuel prices nationwide.
