Times Square: BMW Drags Officer During Traffic Stop
In the early hours of September 12, a shocking incident unfolded in New York City’s Times Square. A silver BMW X3 was involved in an attempted traffic stop that quickly turned dangerous. As an officer approached the vehicle, which was traveling the wrong way on a one-way street, the driver suddenly accelerated, dragging the officer to the ground before speeding away.
The incident, captured on video, shows the officer being pulled along before falling to the ground. Other officers can be seen rushing to assist their colleague. The officer suffered injuries to his left shoulder and knee and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The investigation into the fleeing driver remains ongoing, with no immediate arrests made.
Bangkok: Elderly Mercedes Driver Faces Charges
Across the globe, in Bangkok, a 77-year-old woman found herself in legal trouble after being filmed driving a white Mercedes-Benz against traffic on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. The dashcam footage, posted online, showed the luxury vehicle traveling in the wrong direction along the main inbound lanes.
Police reviewed CCTV footage and identified the registered owner of the Mercedes. The woman, identified as Da, reported to the police station and acknowledged the charges, which included driving negligently and violating traffic signs. The vehicle is expected to be examined as part of the investigation. Da, a property developer, declined to answer questions from reporters.
Mumbai: Supercar Racing in Coastal Road Tunnel
In Mumbai, a case was filed against several drivers for racing cars at high speeds inside the tunnel on the city’s Coastal Road. The vehicles involved included a black Lamborghini a yellow BMW M2 a red BMW Z4 and a Volkswagen Virtus. The incident, recorded at around 11:15 p.m. on September 3, was captured on video and went viral on social media.
Police registered a case under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for negligent driving and endangering someone’s life or personal safety. No arrests have been made so far, but the vehicles involved have been identified. Street racing is not permitted in Mumbai, and the incident has drawn attention to the dangers of reckless driving in public spaces.
