While the urban roads of Milan provided the backdrop for this initial experience, it’s clear that this electric quadricycle offers a glimpse into the future of urban transportation. Interior space and comfort

Stepping inside the Desner Y300, one is immediately impressed by the spacious cabin. Designed to comfortably accommodate two adults, even those on the larger side will find themselves with sufficient shoulder space. It’s worth noting that there’s also ample room for up to four passengers, although taller individuals—those over 1.75 or 1.80 meters—might feel a bit cramped. The overall build quality is quite good, with finishes that rival many compact cars. There are no annoying rattles during the drive, and everything feels solid, except for the optional infotainment tablet, which tends to wobble a bit when pushed. Nevertheless, this minor quirk doesn’t detract from the overall experience.

Performance on the road

Once the engine roars to life, the Desner Y300 showcases impressive power. It’s evident that while the vehicle adheres to the L7e category regulations, it features a “supersized” engine that makes navigating steep parking ramps in Milan a breeze. Although a comprehensive stress test at higher speeds remains to be conducted, initial impressions indicate that it can handle urban slopes effortlessly while maintaining a top speed of around 50 to 60 km/h due to traffic conditions. So far, the feedback regarding its urban range—estimated at 150 to 160 km—is quite promising.

Technical specifications

Delving into the specifics, the Y300 is classified as an L7e electric quadricycle, which can be driven with a B1 license from the age of 16. It boasts a 13.9 kWh lithium battery, promising a remarkable 150 km range under WLTP conditions, whether configured for two or four passengers. The four-seater variant, known as the Family, shares the same 3-meter length as the two-seater Cargo version. It comes equipped with standard 12-inch steel wheels, with the option to upgrade to 13-inch alloy wheels for an additional fee. Air conditioning is standard in the Family model and optional in the Cargo.

Charging and incentives

Charging is exclusively via alternating current at a maximum of 3.5 kW, with a full charge taking about six hours from 0% to 100%. Although government incentives for quadricycles have ended, some dealers have already registered km0 units that still qualify for incentives. This means potential buyers might find the Desner Y300 at reduced prices, with discounts reaching up to €4,000 if an old vehicle is scrapped. Consequently, the final price can be as low as €11,500 for those eligible, or €12,500 without scrappage. For those not quite as fortunate, a €2,000 discount applies to the Y300 Family’s starting price of €17,500, bringing it down to €15,500.
