The season finale of MotoAmerica unfolded from September 25 to 27 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, delivering a mix of blistering dry speed and a rain-soaked showdown. Amid the unpredictable weather, Dunlop Motorcycle Tires provided both the Sportmax Slick and Sportmax Rain compounds that powered the grid, while its trackside crew kept riders rolling through the changing conditions.
Dramatic comeback crowns Bobby Fong in the Quad Lock Superbike class
Entering the weekend 26 points behind the leader, Sean Dylan Kelly, Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing’s Bobby Fong turned the tables by winning both Saturday Superbike races. Those victories slashed the gap to two points, and a solid fourth place on Sunday’s rain-tapped circuit secured his first Quad Lock Superbike Championship with a total of 316 points, just ahead of Kelly’s 305. Mathew Scholtz, representing Strack Racing, topped the final race, underscoring the competitive depth of the field.
Dunlop’s tyre technology fuels record-breaking performances
Throughout 2026, the Sportmax Slick proved its mettle, enabling multiple lap records across various classes. Riders repeatedly cited the tyre’s grip and stability as key factors in shaving seconds off their best laps. When the New Jersey skies opened, the Sportmax Rain entered the spotlight, delivering reliable traction that let the paddock navigate the slippery surface safely. Sportmax Rain is engineered to maintain optimal contact patch under wet conditions, reducing slide and improving rider confidence a claim validated by the tight racing on Sunday.
Trackside support as a decisive advantage
Behind every fast lap, Dunlop’s logistics crew worked round the clock. Coordinator of Motorsports Logistics Cori Maynard highlighted the symbiotic relationship between the tyre supplier and the teams: “Our crew works closely with the riders and teams all season, and we take pride in being ready when they need us.” The New Jersey weekend, with its rapid weather swings, tested that partnership, and the crew’s swift tyre swaps and setup advice were repeatedly praised throughout the paddock.
