Gravity Media streams Superbike World Championship from Cremona

During the EICMA Italian round, the Cremona Circuit became the backdrop for a thrilling weekend of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. Top-tier riders thundered around the track while fans in the venue and around the globe watched the action unfold in real time. The event demanded a broadcast solution capable of handling extreme speeds, rapid camera moves, and the need to deliver pristine picture to multiple territories simultaneously.

Deploying the NOVA 126 OB van for mobile production

Gravity Media answered the challenge with its flagship NOVA 126 OB van, a self-contained unit designed for high-end motorsport coverage. Inside the vehicle, a suite of routing, encoding and monitoring equipment created a seamless pipeline from camera to satellite uplink. The van’s robust power system and redundant signal paths ensured that even the most demanding moments – a sudden over-take or a crash-zone replay – were captured without loss. In this deployment, the OB van served as the central nervous system, coordinating over 22 cameras placed around the circuit.

Camera arsenal: from RF units to specialist onboard rigs

The visual narrative relied on a blend of stationary and mobile viewpoints. Four RF (radio-frequency) units allowed operators to place high-definition cameras in hard-to-reach spots, transmitting clean signals back to the van without cables. Additionally, five specialist onboard cameras were mounted on the motorcycles themselves, delivering an immersive rider-perspective that brings viewers into the cockpit. The remaining cameras were positioned along the grandstand, at the pit lane and in the start-finish zone, each feeding a unique angle that together formed a comprehensive picture of the race.

Coordinated effort with the WorldSBK Organization

A crew of eighteen technicians and operators from Gravity Media worked side-by-side with the WorldSBK Organization (DWO). This close collaboration meant that camera placements, signal checks, and live-switching decisions were made in real time, matching the rhythm of the on-track action. The partnership emphasized precision – from synchronising timecodes across all devices to ensuring that graphics and timing data arrived at broadcasters without delay. The result was a flawless live feed that reached fans in dozens of countries, preserving the intensity of each lap.

Why the production matters for global fans

Beyond the technical brilliance, the broadcast served a strategic purpose: turning a local Italian event into a worldwide spectacle. By leveraging satellite distribution and internet streaming platforms, Gravity Media guaranteed that millions could experience the roar of the engines, the spray of tires, and the split-second battles that define Superbike racing. The global reach not only satisfies existing enthusiasts but also attracts new audiences, reinforcing the sport’s growth trajectory.

The success of the EICMA Italian round broadcast highlights Gravity Media’s mastery of live motorsport production. The combination of a cutting-edge OB van, a diversified camera fleet, and tight coordination with the DWO created a viewing experience that matched the speed and excitement of the Superbike World Championship itself.
