Maserati Completes 14,400-Kilometer Voyage Along the Silk Road

In the heart of the Emilia-Romagna region, the final chapter of Maserati’s Grand Tour Cina-Italia unfolded under the morning sun. This monumental journey, initiated over two months prior in Shanghai, culminated in Modena, where the convoy of Maserati vehicles arrived at the iconic Viale Ciro Menotti. The expedition spanned an impressive 14,400 kilometers traversing 12 countries across Asia and Europe, symbolizing a homecoming to the brand’s roots.

The journey was not merely a test of endurance but a tribute to the essence of gran turismo blending performance, comfort, and the joy of travel. Maserati’s Grand Tour was a celebration of the brand’s 100-year legacy embodied by the Tridente emblem, inspired by Bologna’s Fontana del Nettuno.

The Silk Road Revisited

The adventure began on May 4 in Shanghai, following the historic Silk Road route. The convoy navigated through the picturesque landscapes of Jiangnan crossed the rugged terrains of Xinjiang and ventured through the vast expanses of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Each leg of the journey offered a unique blend of cultures, climates, and breathtaking scenery, transforming the trip into a true exploration.

From the serene waters of Nalati to the glacial beauty of Lake Sayram the convoy traversed diverse landscapes, including the arid deserts of Dunhuang and the lush valleys of Fergana. The journey continued through the historic cities of TashkentSamarkand and Bukhara each offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Central Asian history.

The Return to Modena

The final leg of the journey brought the convoy through the Balkans past the stunning landscapes of Cappadocia and the bustling streets of Istanbul before entering Italy via the Dolomites and Lake Garda. The arrival in Modena was a poignant moment, symbolizing the deep connection between the Chinese market and the Motor Valley.

Participants had the opportunity to visit the historic Maserati plant, witnessing the meticulous craftsmanship and artisanal processes that define the brand. The Officine Fuoriserie dedicated to customizing vehicles with exclusive colors and finishes, was a highlight of the tour.

The Vehicles of the Grand Tour

The convoy featured three of Maserati’s most iconic models: the GranTurismoGranCabrio and Grecale. The GranTurismo Trofeo powered by a 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno biturbo engine excelled in both desert and mountainous terrains, thanks to its adaptive pneumatic suspensions and dynamic vehicle control system.

The GranCabrio showcased the allure of open-air driving, with its aluminum frame and Air Scarf system ensuring comfort even in cooler climates. The Grecale equipped with all-wheel drive and adjustable suspensions, tackled the most challenging conditions, from the Gobi Desert to high-altitude roads.

The Grand Tour Cina-Italia 2026 was more than a journey; it was a celebration of Maserati’s heritage, a testament to the brand’s commitment to gran turismo and a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures through the shared passion for automotive excellence.
