Max Verstappen and Red Bull RB22 shine in Austria with season's best finish

The Red Bull Racing team from Milton Keynes has achieved their best result of the 2026 season, with Max Verstappen securing a second-place finish in the Austrian Grand Prix. This performance comes after a challenging start to the season, where the team faced several setbacks in qualifying and early race stages.

The Dutch driver had shown flashes of brilliance in qualifying, particularly at the Miami and Monaco Grands Prix, where he secured front-row starts. However, these promising beginnings were cut short by early race incidents. In Florida Verstappen went off track in a dramatic spin, dropping him to the back of the field. Meanwhile, in Monaco he barely managed to start the race due to technical issues.

Red Bull RB22’s redemption in Austria

The tide turned for the Red Bull RB22 in Austria. Despite a heartbreaking technical failure in the final moments of Q3 that forced Verstappen off track, the team rallied to deliver a stellar race performance. The second-place finish not only marked a personal triumph for Verstappen but also represented the team’s best result of the season so far.

Overcoming early season hurdles

The 2026 season has been a rollercoaster for the Milton Keynes-based team. Early struggles in race starts and technical reliability have been significant hurdles. However, the consistent improvement in race performance, culminating in the Austrian Grand Prix, demonstrates the team’s resilience and determination.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Red Bull to see if they can build on this momentum. With Verstappen at the helm and the RB22 showing signs of improvement, the team has every reason to be optimistic about their chances in the remaining races.
