The British-branded automaker has rolled out the Mini Countryman Untamed Edition a variant that blends the everyday practicality of the classic crossover with a purpose-built off-road character. Guided by the belief that a vehicle should feel at home in city traffic and on a spontaneous weekend escape, the Untamed Edition is positioned as a more adventurous take on the Countryman line-up according to Mini’s brand head Jean-Philippe Parain. Production will begin in November at the Leipzig plant, with the first deliveries slated for early next year in the United States, Canada and selected European markets.
Rugged exterior language and lifted capability
Visually, the Untamed model is distinguished by a front grille wrapped in Dark Steel accents and a vertically-oriented design that adds a muscular stance. Matte-black protective films cover the wheel arches, side sills and bonnet, while a new C-pillar badge displays the Untamed logo. Side skirts have been reshaped and a revised rear diffuser contributes to a more assertive silhouette. Buyers can choose from three edition-specific paints – Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue and the debut matte finish Frozen Nomad Blue – alongside classic Midnight Black and Nanuq White. The first matte paint ever offered on a series-production Mini further underlines the model’s outdoor-ready intent.
The mechanical upgrades support the visual ambition. A 15 mm suspension lift, combined with larger 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires, raises the vehicle’s ground clearance by 0.7 inches (19 mm). This lift improves approach and break-over angles, allowing the Untamed to negotiate rougher terrain without compromising ride comfort. Underbody protection panels, painted in the same Dark Steel hue, shield the chassis from stone chips, while a factory-installed trailer hitch in the U.S. enables a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lb. Roof-load capacity reaches 165 lb while driving and 661 lb when stationary, reinforcing the model’s utility credentials.
Adventure-focused cabin and exclusive accessories
Inside, the Untamed Edition adopts a palette inspired by modern outdoor equipment. The centerpiece is a pair of Nightshade Blue sports seats upholstered in perforated Vescin leather with knitted shoulder and head-rest inserts, echoing the texture of rock formations. Cornflower-blue stitching runs along the seams, and a contrast-stitched Millennial Melange fabric decorates the door panels and dashboard. Dark Steel replaces the usual vibrant silver on interior trims, while a specially designed center-console storage box, featuring elastic retainers, mirrors the geometry of a backpack. Rubber all-weather floor mats with a three-dimensional rock-like pattern complete the practical yet stylish environment.
Mini has paired the vehicle with a bespoke outdoor kit to reinforce its “ready for anything” promise. In collaboration with Italian specialist AutoHome a pop-up A-frame roof tent can be mounted in seconds thanks to built-in gas struts; the tent’s hard-shell and fabric are handcrafted in Italy and feature weather-resistant, insulated construction. Complementary camping furniture – folding chairs and a lightweight table – is supplied by Helinox**,** a brand renowned for portable outdoor gear. Both the tent and the furniture adopt the Untamed Edition’s distinctive design language, creating a cohesive adventure ecosystem that extends beyond the vehicle itself.
Pricing, powertrains and market rollout
In the United States, the Untamed Edition will be available on the Countryman S ALL4 and the fully electric Countryman SE ALL4 platforms. The base price starts at $43,900, not including a $1,350 destination and handling charge. Canadian buyers receive the same lifted suspension and all-terrain setup, while European markets will see the lift primarily on the electric variants. Optional equipment includes a Comfort Package Max, a universal garage door opener and a space-saver spare wheel, each priced separately. The model’s launch aligns with Mini’s broader strategy to offer a versatile, adventure-ready compact SUV without sacrificing the brand’s iconic driving dynamics.
