While three of the four featured classes have already handed out their champions, the remaining points battles promise drama for riders still chasing a podium finish. The weekend will therefore be less about who wears the number-one plate and more about who can add a career-defining result before the calendar closes.
Supersport: Binder’s title secured, the hunt for third intensifies
At COTA, Darryn Binder of Celtic/Economy Lube + Tire/Warhorse Ducati clinched the Supersport crown with a round to spare, marking his 10th victory and 13th podium of the rookie season. The New Jersey race will not alter the top of the table, but it will settle the order behind him. Josh Herrin (Desnuda Organic Tequila) sits second with 76 points, edging teammate Kayla Yaakov (Droplight) by a slim three-point margin. Behind them, Josh Hayes of BPR Racing Yamaha remains within striking distance, turning the final two events into a sprint for the third spot.
Adding fresh intrigue, Rossi Moor joins M4 ECSTAR Suzuki for the weekend, making his Supersport debut after competing in Europe’s FIM JuniorGP Moto2 series. He replaces the injured Superbike rider Richie Escalante while Tyler Scott continues in the seat as a stand-in. Both riders will be keen to prove their pace on American soil before the season ends.
Mission King of the Baggers: Gillim aims to protect his lead
The Baggers crown was already secured by Hayden Gillim (J&P Cycles/Motul/Vance & Hines Factory Indian) at COTA, leaving him with a comfortable margin over runner-up Bradley Smith (Harley-Davidson x Dynojet Factory Racing). In New Jersey, Gillim’s focus shifts to helping teammate Troy Herfoss lock the second-place slot, which currently trails Smith by only three points. A strong finish for Herfoss could keep the Indian squad prominent as the series draws to a close.
Further down the order, Tyler O’Hara of SDI Racing occupies fourth place after a podium on Saturday at COTA, while his fellow factory rider Kyle Wyman rounds out the top five and will relish a home-field boost in his native New Jersey.
Talent Cup: Gouker poised for title, rivals reshuffle
Quarterley Racing’s Nathan Gouker arrives in Millville with an 18-point advantage over Team Roberts’ Kensei Matsudaira. Matsudaira’s withdrawal to contest a Moto4 round in Europe leaves Gouker as the sole rider still capable of influencing the championship outcome; he will be crowned champion regardless of his finish at NJMP. Matsudaira’s second-place standing remains untouched, sitting 61 points clear of Sam Drane (Yamaha BLU CRU Estenson Racing) in third.
The battle for the final podium spot intensifies as Drane, only five points ahead of fellow Australian Jake Paige seeks to defend his position. Both will push for high-scoring results, while Pennsylvania native Derek Sanchez of Real Steel Honda looks to turn his home-race advantage into a maiden podium.
Twins Cup: Vossberg’s dominance unchanged, runner-up fight heats up
Seven wins already in the bag, Hank Vossberg ($31) entered NJMP with the championship locked, allowing him to race without pressure while still adding to his impressive résumé. The real contest centers on the runner-up slot: Bodie Paige (M4 ECSTAR Suzuki) leads Sam Drane (Yamaha BLU CRU Estenson Racing) by four points, with teammate Matthew Chapin a further five behind Drane in fourth. Maryland native Chapin may count on a regional cheer, while Isaac Woodworth of Karns/TST Industries Racing rounds out the top five.
Adding a headline-making subplot, 15-year-old Nathan Gouker will graduate from the Talent Cup to the Twins Cup for the finale, piloting an Aprilia RS 660. His debut offers a glimpse of a future welterweight contender and could attract attention from teams scouting fresh talent for the 2027 season.
