Unforgettable performances at Michelin Raceway
This past weekend, the atmosphere at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta was electric as Cameron Beaubier tied Josh Hayes for the all-time AMA/MotoAmerica professional road racing wins record. Beaubier achieved this remarkable feat with impressive Superbike victories on both Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, Hayes celebrated his 89th career victory in the rain-soaked Supersport event at Barber Motorsports Park. On Saturday, Beaubier matched Hayes’ achievement by winning in the challenging conditions, then showcased his dominance by leading the dry race on Sunday.
Supersport showdown: Mathew Scholtz rises to the challenge
After expressing dissatisfaction with his performance in Saturday’s rain, where he finished fifth, Mathew Scholtz turned the tables on Sunday. He dominated the Supersport race, demonstrating his skill and determination. PJ Jacobsen, who won on Saturday, had a tougher time on Sunday, finishing in sixth place but racing back to claim a commendable second position. Scholtz’s teammate, Blake Davis, rounded out the podium in third place, showcasing the competitive spirit of the Supersport category.
Super Hooligan race highlights
In an intense Super Hooligan race, Cory West and Hayden Schultz encountered a mishap on the first lap, leading to their early exit. Jake Lewis, who won on Saturday, capitalized on his lead, noticing a significant gap behind him and effectively securing his victory. Lewis ended the weekend with a remarkable performance, finishing first in both Hooligan races and achieving mixed results in the Supersport races.
The King of the Baggers Challenge
Kyle Wyman showcased his prowess in practice and qualifying but faced challenges during the King of the Baggers Challenge. However, he found his rhythm on Sunday, pulling away from Loris Baz, the previous day’s Race One winner. This race was marked by two red flags, adding to the drama of the event. Wyman’s performance highlights the unpredictable nature of racing and the constant push for improvement among competitors.
