Progressive American Flat Track: Peoria TT 2026 Preview

The Progressive American Flat Track series is set to ignite the 79th Caterpillar Peoria TT at the Peoria Motorcycle Club on Saturday, August 22, 2026. This iconic event, presented by Walters Brothers Harley-Davidson will see the world’s elite 450cc dirt track riders battle it out on the challenging Peoria circuit.

The KICKER AFT Singles championship is hanging in the balance, with the top contenders gearing up for a thrilling showdown. The 14th round of the 2026 season, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing promises to deliver heart-pounding action and intense competition.

The Championship Chase

Tom Drane the defending KICKER AFT Singles champion, arrives in Peoria following a challenging week in Sturgis. The Australian rider faced setbacks, including a crash while leading the Caterpillar Jackpine Gypsies Super TT and another incident in the short track race. Despite these hurdles, Drane maintains a 42-point lead over his closest rival, Chase Saathoff.

Drane’s resilience and skill have positioned him for a potential championship clinch. With a four-point lead over Saathoff, a strong performance in Peoria could secure his second consecutive title. This victory would also bolster his case for a Mission AFT SuperTwins wild card ride at the upcoming Caterpillar Springfield Mile I & II double finale.

Rivalries and Redemption

Chase Saathoff Drane’s archrival, knows he must win in Peoria to keep his title hopes alive. Saathoff’s determination was evident in his first win of the season following his disqualification in Sturgis. The Illinois native aims to replicate his 2026 victory at Peoria, where he triumphed over Kody Kopp and Drane.

Adding to the drama, Jesse Janisch is set to compete in what could be his final Progressive AFT race. The veteran rider, known for his exceptional record, including a 2026 Mission AFT Production Twins title, has six career victories in the KICKER AFT Singles TT discipline. Janisch’s experience and speed make him a formidable contender in Peoria.

Dark Horses and New Faces

Several riders have shown the potential to challenge the front-runners. Trevor Brunner who won in Peoria in 2026, is a notable contender. His recent return to form on the JMC Motorsports KTM makes him a strong candidate for the podium. Similarly, Tarren Santero has consistently finished on the podium and is seeking his first victory.

The Australian contingent is also strong, with Max Whale making his season debut. Whale, a two-time KICKER AFT Singles runner-up, has nine career victories, including two wins at Peoria. Joining him is Bodie Paige a young talent who has excelled in both flat track and road racing.

Honoring a Legend

The event will also pay tribute to the late Dan Bromley a two-time national champion known for his generosity and spirit. The Dan Bromley AFT ProSport 450 Invitational will feature top amateurs competing for a $4000 purse. This race honors Bromley’s legacy and his dedication to nurturing the next generation of racers.

Fans attending the event can enjoy a range of activities, including vendor booths, food and beverage options, and dedicated motorcycle parking. Special guests Mark Ramsey and Eric “Digger” Manes from the hit show Moonshiners will serve as Grand Marshals, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
