The birth of Sketch Body at Monterey Car Week 2023
The concept originated with a one-off Ferrari 812 Competizione Tailor Made unveiled at Monterey Car Week in 2023. Chief Design Officer Flavio Manzoni explained that the car “takes inspiration from the concept of a blank sheet and represents the starting point from which the Ferrari Design Center begins the creation of every new model.” The vehicle’s Giallo Tristrato Opaco surface was covered with marker-drawn lines, sketches and quick studies that visualised its aesthetic philosophy. Those annotations, frozen on the car’s skin, became a living record of the design process and the foundation for the Sketch Body collection.
Five full-size sculptures, each telling a design story
The collection showcases five life-size sections taken from models that define Ferrari’s current and recent lineup. Each piece retains the original paint finish, turning the surface into a tactile illustration of its own development:
