The average price of gas in the United States stands at $4.049 per gallon this week, according to the latest data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Diesel prices have climbed to $5.454 per gallon, marking a significant premium over gasoline.
Compared to last week, gas prices have inched up by 1.07%, while diesel prices have seen a more notable increase of 3.75%. Over the past five weeks, gas prices have fluctuated between a low of $4.001 and a high of $4.096, reflecting a modest overall increase of 1.2% from the oldest week in this period.
Across the nation, prices vary significantly by state. California continues to have the highest gas prices at $5.397 per gallon, followed by New York at $4.042. On the lower end of the spectrum, Texas offers the cheapest gas at $3.619 per gallon, with Florida close behind at $3.768.
