Expanding horizons: OrangeCat Racing’s new venture into professional racing

Get ready for an electrifying season as OrangeCat Racing and Lightfighter join forces for a groundbreaking MotoAmerica campaign.

As the 2026 racing season approaches, OrangeCat Racing is making significant strides in the MotoAmerica paddock through its enhanced collaboration with Lightfighter. This partnership aims to introduce the Lightfighter V3-RH model into the competitive landscape of the RSD Super Hooligans Class. The unveiling of this innovative race bike took place during a recent MotoAmerica event at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, marking a pivotal moment for both teams.

Expanding the Racing Portfolio

The introduction of the V3-RH signifies a bold step for OrangeCat Racing as it transitions from its previous success in the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 competition to the professional racing arena. The V3-RH is not just another motorcycle; it represents a commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology in the world of motorsport. As stated by Lightfighter’s CEO, Brian Wismann, the goal is to blend new advancements with the thrills of racing, showcasing the capabilities of next-generation electric powertrains against a variety of formidable competitors.

The V3-RH is designed with both racers and trackday enthusiasts in mind. Its electric powertrain allows for a unique racing experience that is not only fast but also quiet and clean. The structure comprises a main tubular chromoly steel trellis chassis, a lithium-ion battery pack, and a specifically engineered motor/gearbox unit, all tailored for optimal performance on the racetrack.

Innovative Design Partner Program

In addition to the V3-RH launch, the partnership has introduced the Lightfighter Design Partner Program, aimed at developing the next model, the V4. This initiative combines rigorous research and development with elite coaching and exclusive motorsport experiences, culminating in a motorcycle that promises to set new standards in performance and desirability. A select group of 10 participants will have the opportunity to purchase a V3 model and engage in a series of testing and development events, collaborating closely with Lightfighter engineers.

Participants in the Design Partner Program will not only enjoy the thrill of testing the latest electric motorcycle but will also contribute to shaping the future of Lightfighter’s V4 model. The program includes joint testing sessions with riders from OrangeCat Racing, offering a unique blend of hands-on experience and insider access to the racing world.

Track Record of Success

The fruitful collaboration between OrangeCat Racing and Lightfighter traces back to their initial competitive endeavors in the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA). With notable achievements, including two victories and an electric motorcycle lap record at Barber Motorsports Park, the team has established itself as a formidable contender. Currently, they are leading in the AFM championship with rider Brenden Ketelsen, showcasing their growing prowess in the racing community.

Since entering the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 Class in 2023, OrangeCat Racing has quickly made its mark, with one of its riders securing a runner-up position in the points standings during the initial seasons. This momentum has set the stage for their ambitious plans in 2026, as they aim to introduce an electric motorcycle into the Super Hooligans class, further demonstrating their commitment to innovation and excellence in racing.

As Jeff Connors, principal of OrangeCat Racing, expressed, the excitement surrounding the partnership with Lightfighter is palpable. Together, they are poised to take the sport to new heights, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in electric motorcycle racing.
