Goodyear Racing has been awarded the FIA's highest environmental accreditation for 2026, showcasing their commitment to sustainability in motorsport.

Goodyear Racing Earns FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation Renewal

In a significant milestone for sustainable motorsport, Goodyear Racing has been awarded the FIA’s Three-Star Environmental Accreditation for 2026. This prestigious recognition underscores Goodyear’s dedication to integrating environmental best practices across its racing operations, from manufacturing to trackside activities.

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Environmental Accreditation Programme (EAP) provides a structured framework for motorsport organizations to measure, manage, and improve their environmental performance. The three-star rating is the highest level of recognition, reflecting Goodyear’s commitment to environmental sustainability and best-practice environmental management.

Sustainability Initiatives Across Racing Operations

Goodyear’s renewed accreditation is a testament to its accelerated sustainability initiatives. The company has implemented a range of measures to reduce environmental impact, including:

  • Renewable Energy Operating manufacturing facilities in Hanau, Germany and Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg powered by 100% renewable electricity.
  • Certifications Maintaining internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14001ISO 50001ISO 45001 and ISCC PLUS certification in all EMEA facilities.
  • Resource Efficiency Reducing resource consumption and logistics impact through single-specification tyre strategies in endurance racing.
  • Virtual Development Increasing the use of virtual development and advanced simulation to minimize physical testing.
  • Tyre Retreading Extending tyre life cycles through retreading practices in truck racing and ensuring recycling or energy recovery of end-of-life tyres via a take-back system and Zero Waste to landfill management.

These initiatives contribute to Goodyear’s long-term sustainability ambitions, including transitioning to 100% renewable energy in manufacturing by 2040 and achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050.

Innovations in Racing Tyres

Goodyear’s commitment to sustainability extends to its product innovations. The company recently introduced the 2027 generation of EAGLE racing tyres for the FIA WEC LMGT3 featuring a remarkable 66% sustainable materials content. This breakthrough sets a new benchmark in endurance racing, combining enhanced on-track performance with environmental responsibility.

In the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship a new tyre specification has also been introduced, incorporating up to 60% sustainable materials. These advancements demonstrate Goodyear’s strategy of leveraging motorsport as a platform to accelerate innovation and advance sustainable solutions for both racing and road applications.

Leadership Commitment and Future Goals

Xavier Fraipont Goodyear Racing Vice-President, emphasized the significance of the renewed accreditation: “Renewing the FIA’s highest level of environmental accreditation is a strong validation of the progress we have made in embedding sustainability across our racing operations. Over the past years, we have focused our efforts at every level – from how we design and manufacture our tyres to how we operate at the track. Crucially, we are proving that there is no trade-off between performance and a more responsible approach: the two go hand in hand.”

Marek Nawarecki FIA Senior Circuit Sport Director, commended Goodyear’s achievements: “Goodyear’s renewed Three-Star Accreditation reflects exactly the kind of sustained, credible commitment the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme is designed to recognise. By embedding sustainability from manufacturing through to trackside operations, Goodyear has demonstrated measurable, lasting progress.”

As the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship resumes at the Int. Shell ADAC Truck-Grand-Prix at the Nürburgring in Germany from July 9-12, Goodyear Racing continues to set the standard for sustainable practices in motorsport.
