The new Jeep Compass for South America is expected to make its debut in 2028 with production slated to take place at the Goiana Assembly Complex in Pernambuco, Brazil. This plant is already a hub for Jeep’s current South American models, including the Compass and Commander SUVs.
Familiar Foundations with a Modern Twist
Unlike the European version of the Compass, which has transitioned to the newer STLA Medium architecture the South American model will retain the FCA Small Wide platform. This decision is likely driven by the cost savings associated with avoiding the need to retool the production lines. The same platform underpins several other vehicles, including the second-gen Compass, the Commander, the Ram Rampage, and the Alfa Romeo Tonale / Dodge Hornet pair.
Despite the familiar underpinnings, the new Compass is expected to feature a modern exterior design, a revamped cabin layout, and advanced safety and digital features that mirror those found in the European-spec Compass. This means buyers can anticipate more angular surfacing, modern LEDs, and larger screens inside the cabin.
Electrified Options and Chinese Collaboration

One of these is an evolution of the bi-fuel 1.3-liter Turbo Flex engine, paired with a 48V mild hybrid setup.
