Louis Vuitton Returns to Classic Car Scene with Dolomites Classic Run

Louis Vuitton is making a triumphant return to the world of classic cars with the announcement of the Dolomites Classic Run set to take place from September 1 to 4, 2026. This event marks a revival of the brand’s historic Classic Run series, which last took place in 2012 with the Serenissima Run in the Veneto region.

The rally will feature 25 vintage cars from some of the world’s most prestigious collections, showcasing iconic models like the Lancia Aurelia B24 Convertibile the Ferrari 250 GT California Spider and the Lamborghini Miura P400. The event promises to be a celebration of automotive heritage, blending the thrill of a rally with the elegance of a grand tour.

The Legacy of Louis Vuitton and Automobiles

The connection between Louis Vuitton and the automotive world runs deep. In the late 19th century, Georges Vuitton son of the brand’s founder, recognized the changing landscape of travel with the advent of automobiles. He developed specialized luggage and accessories tailored for the new breed of motorists, a tradition that continues to this day.

This legacy is evident in the brand’s Classic Run series, which began in 1993 and has taken place in various locations around the world, from the rolling hills of Tuscany to the bustling streets of China. The Dolomites Classic Run is a natural extension of this tradition, offering a unique blend of competition and cultural exploration.

The Dolomites Classic Run: A Journey Through Time

The rally will cover approximately 600 kilometers, starting at the historic Villa Pisani in Stra, along the Riviera del Brenta. From there, the route will wind through the breathtaking landscapes of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site, before culminating in Monza. The final leg of the journey will see the vintage cars parading through the iconic Autodromo Nazionale during the opening of the Italian Grand Prix.

The event is not just a competition but a celebration of automotive artistry and craftsmanship. The participating cars, owned by some of the world’s most discerning collectors, are not just modes of transport but rolling works of art. The rally offers a unique opportunity to appreciate these vehicles in motion, against the backdrop of some of Italy’s most stunning landscapes.

A Grand Tour for the Modern Age

The Dolomites Classic Run is more than just a rally; it’s a modern-day grand tour. The event is designed to offer participants and spectators alike a chance to immerse themselves in the culture and history of the regions they pass through. From the historic villas of the Veneto to the grandeur of Monza’s Autodromo, the rally is a journey through time as much as it is a test of skill and precision.

For Louis Vuitton, the event is a celebration of the brand’s heritage and its enduring connection to the world of travel. As Pietro Beccari, CEO of Louis Vuitton, noted, the rally is a way to ‘remember, revive, and resume the savoir-faire that the maison had developed for classic cars.’ It’s a testament to the brand’s commitment to blending tradition with innovation, creating experiences that are as unique as they are unforgettable.
