Ora Ballet Cat Upgrade: More Power and a New Identity for Great Wall's Electric Hatchback

The Chinese automaker Great Wall is not giving up on its Ora Ballet Cat an electric hatchback that pays homage to the iconic Volkswagen Beetle. Despite underwhelming sales, the company is preparing a substantial update for the model, which includes a power increase and a potential name change to Ora 6.

This update comes as part of Great Wall’s strategy to phase out feline-inspired names for its Ora lineup. The Ora Ballet Cat, launched in 2026, has struggled to gain traction in the market, with only 8,523 units sold in China from July 2026 to June 2026. The upcoming changes aim to revitalize this unique model and attract more buyers.

The Ora Ballet Cat’s Styling and Dimensions Remain Unchanged

The Ora Ballet Cat’s distinctive design, which draws clear inspiration from the Volkswagen Beetle, will remain largely unchanged. The model retains its rounded headlights integrated into the fendersnear-vertical windshield and arched roof along with numerous chrome accents that enhance its retro appeal. The dimensions also stay the same, with a length of 4.40 meterswidth of 1.85 metersheight of 1.68 meters and a wheelbase of 2.75 meters.

Performance Enhancements and Technical Specifications

The most significant changes in the updated Ora Ballet Cat are under the hood. The electric motor’s power has been increased from 169 CV to 201 CV and the top speed has been raised from 155 km/h to 180 km/h. The LFP battery supplied by Svolt remains unchanged, though its capacity has not yet been disclosed.

One of the standout features of the Ora Ballet Cat is its Lady Driving mode designed specifically for female drivers. This mode adjusts the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) to increase the distance from other vehicles and monitor driver fatigue and distraction more rigorously. Other unique features include a selfie camera and a program that adjusts heating and air conditioning to alleviate discomfort during menstruation.

A Flop in Search of a Comeback

Despite its innovative features, the Ora Ballet Cat has not met sales expectations. The model’s target audience, primarily women, did not respond as hoped, leading to the need for a significant update. Great Wall is now betting on the increased power and potential name change to revitalize interest in the Ora Ballet Cat and position it more competitively in the Electric vehicle market.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, Great Wall’s efforts to reinvigorate the Ora Ballet Cat highlight the challenges and opportunities in the electric vehicle segment. With the updated specifications and a fresh identity, the Ora Ballet Cat aims to carve out a niche for itself in the competitive Chinese market.
