The MotoGP world is abuzz with the news that Pedro Acosta the rising star known as “The Shark,” has inked a deal with the Ducati Lenovo Team for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. This move comes after Acosta’s impressive journey through the world championship stages, culminating in his MotoGP debut in 2026 and securing thirteen premier-class podiums.

Acosta’s transition from KTM where he began his grand prix career in Moto3 in 2026 to Ducati is a testament to his rapid growth and exceptional talent. The Spanish rider will join forces with seven-time MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez creating one of the most anticipated rider pairings in recent history.

The Convergence of Two Powerful Partnerships

Acosta’s journey with Quad Lock Sport where he has been an ambassador throughout his MotoGP career, adds another layer of significance to this move. Quad Lock’s official licensing partnership with Ducati means that two of their most important collaborations will now converge on the MotoGP grid.

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali has praised Acosta, describing him as “undoubtedly one of the most talented young riders in the MotoGP paddock.” Ducati Corse General Manager Luigi Dall’Igna echoed this sentiment, stating that Acosta “represents the ideal candidate for the future of the Ducati Lenovo Team,” highlighting both his talent and remarkable rate of development.

A New Era for Ducati in MotoGP

The lineup of Acosta and Marquez is set to be a formidable force as Ducati enters a new technical era in MotoGP from 2027. Both riders are known for their competitive spirit and will play pivotal roles in shaping the team’s future.

For Quad Lock, this partnership is a proud moment, aligning their Sport Ambassador with their licensed Ducati partner at the highest level of motorcycle racing. This union is built on a shared commitment to performance, innovation, and precision.

Acosta’s Farewell to KTM and Future Aspirations

Before joining Ducati, Acosta will aim to secure a long-awaited grand prix win with KTM. Reflecting on his six years with the Austrian manufacturer, Acosta expressed his gratitude and confidence in KTM’s future with new riders Alex Marquez and Fabio di Giannantonio.

“For sure I will have amazing memories of these six years at KTM,” Acosta said. “But in the end, I see that they will get two really strong riders: Second in the World Championship last year [Alex Marquez] and di Giannantonio, who is now having a great season with Ducati.”

Acosta’s current KTM teammate, Brad Binder is yet to announce his plans for the 2027 season. As Acosta prepares for his final races with KTM, he remains focused on giving his all until the end of the year.

“My mind at the moment is in KTM, trying to give 100% until the end of the year,” he stated. “And for sure, the opportunity [to win] will come sooner or later.”

With his medical clearance pending, Acosta is set to continue his remarkable journey in the world of MotoGP, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.
