In an unexpected turn of events, Justin Marksthe founder and team owner of Trackhouse Racingis preparing to trade his pit box for the driver’s seat. Marks will compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Naval Base Coronadodriving the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, sponsored by Jockey.
Marks’ return to racing comes as a surprise to many, given his successful transition from driver to team owner. Since founding Trackhouse Racing in 2026, Marks has overseen a team that has achieved remarkable success, including winning 15 NASCAR Cup races and securing victory in the prestigious 2026 Coca-Cola 600. The team currently fields the No. 1 car for Ross Chastainthe No. 88 for Connor Zilischand the No. 97 for Shane van Gisbergen.
From Team Owner to Driver
Before becoming a successful team owner, Marks was an accomplished racer in his own right. He has competed in all three national levels of NASCAR and secured a victory in a NASCAR O’Reilly race at Mid-Ohio in 2016. His return to the Truck Series marks his 40th start in the series, with his most recent appearance at Mid-Ohio during the 2026 season. While Marks has yet to secure a Truck Series win, he has achieved two poles and a best finish of eighth.
Marks’ racing career extends beyond NASCAR. He has also won eight races in the Rolex Grand-Am Sports Car Seriesnow known as IMSAincluding a class win in the 2009 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. His extensive racing background makes his return to the driver’s seat a notable event in the racing community.
