79th Peoria TT: Bauman, Daniels, and Kopp Battle for Glory

The World Famous Caterpillar Peoria TT presented by Walters Brothers Harley-Davidson, is set to roar into life on August 22, 2026 in Peoria, Illinois. This 79th edition of the legendary race, organized by the Peoria Motorcycle Club promises to be a thrilling spectacle, drawing fans from across the globe to witness world-class competition in the venue’s unique natural amphitheater.

The Peoria TT is not just any race; it’s a rite of passage for dirt trackers. Winning here is a badge of honor, a testament to a rider’s skill and determination. The race has a storied history, with legends like Roger SoderstromJoe Leonard and Dick Mann etching their names into its annals. In recent years, riders like Henry WilesChris Carr and JD Beach have dominated, making it a challenge for newcomers to break through.

The Reigning Champions and Their Quest for Glory

The current warden of Peoria is Briar Bauman who secured his third victory here last year. Riding for Rick Ware Racing on a Rocket Doctor Harley-Davidson XG750R Bauman is aiming for a fourth win, which could propel him closer to a third Grand National Championship. However, Bauman knows that victory won’t come easy, especially with the likes of Dallas Daniels and Kody Kopp hot on his heels.

Dallas Daniels the reigning champion and current points leader, hails from nearby Mattoon, Illinois. Daniels has been a force to reckon with, breaking through with a stunning maiden professional victory as a KICKER AFT Singles rookie in 2019. Despite his prowess, Daniels has yet to claim the top spot in Peoria, a feat he’s eager to achieve this year. His success at the Sturgis event has put him in a commanding position, leading the points standings with just three races left.

Kody Kopp a rookie title hopeful, has been steadily improving in Peoria. With three consecutive KICKER AFT Singles crowns under his belt, Kopp is no stranger to victory. However, he faces an uphill battle, needing not just a stellar performance but also a bit of luck to secure the championship.

The Numbers Game: Points, Positions, and Predictions

The points standings are tight, with Daniels leading Kopp by 13 points and Bauman by 16. With 23 points awarded for a win, 19 for second, and 16 for third, the race for the championship is far from over. Daniels could repeat as champion with three seconds, even if Kopp were to win out. Bauman’s path is even more challenging, requiring three wins to surpass Daniels.

Adding to the mix is Bronson Bauman a part-timer with serious Peoria chops. With three top fives in his last six attempts, Bronson could play a crucial role in his brother Briar’s quest for victory. The absence of other top riders like JD BeachJared Mees and Jarod VanDerkooi opens the door for a new generation to step forward and make their mark.

The Amphitheater Awaits: Entertainment and Excitement

Beyond the thrilling races, fans can look forward to a day filled with entertainment. The event will feature a range of vendors, expansive food and beverage options, and dedicated motorcycle parking.
