FIA Enhances Support for Member Clubs in Global Motorsport

FIA Launches Innovative Initiatives to Boost Global Motorsport Participation and Empower Member Clubs

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), recognized as the primary authority in motor sport and mobility, has unveiled a comprehensive set of resources aimed at bolstering the development of its 149 sport member clubs, known as ASNs. This initiative is part of the FIA’s broader strategy to enhance accessibility and appeal of motor sport at the grassroots level.

One of the standout features of this initiative is the revamped Motor Sport in a Box. Initially launched in 2025, this program equips member clubs with essential tools to organize small-scale, cost-effective motor sport events in easily accessible venues, such as parking lots. The addition of timekeeping equipment marks a significant enhancement to this toolkit, allowing clubs to host a wider variety of events while improving the overall accuracy and efficiency of timing for competitions.

Modernizing governance with digital solutions

In addition to enhancing grassroots participation, the FIA is also modernizing its governance through a new digital licensing project. This innovative system aims to streamline the administration of licenses for ASNs, providing a unified platform that simplifies processes. Following successful trials in locations such as Canada, Malta, and Sri Lanka, the rollout will continue to seven more ASNs next year, supported by a dedicated FIA digital licensing team.

The new system features real-time management of license statuses and a comprehensive dashboard for analytics. Additionally, it will introduce a dedicated app compatible with Apple and Google Wallet, making it easier for drivers to manage their licensing needs.

Comprehensive resource handbook for clubs

To further support ASNs, the FIA has released the Sport Clubs Handbook, a detailed guide designed to assist clubs in various aspects, including safety, communications, and training. This 176-page resource will be available online as a dynamic document, representing a substantial upgrade from the previous edition published in 2017. It is particularly beneficial for new clubs as they seek to establish and expand their presence in the motor sport landscape.

Commitment to growth and excellence

During the ASN Forum, part of the FIA’s General Assembly taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, these announcements underscore the FIA’s unwavering commitment to its member clubs. By providing state-of-the-art resources and insights based on the latest innovations, the FIA aims to foster a supportive environment that meets the unique needs of motor sport in various regions.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasized the pivotal role of member clubs, stating, “Our members are the driving force behind our mission, and I am proud to strengthen our support for their work through these new initiatives.” He acknowledged the relentless efforts of club members across different championships to implement innovative projects that enhance the sport’s appeal both on and off the track.

Strengthening the foundation of motor sport

Similarly, FIA Secretary General for Sport Valerio Iachizzi expressed pride in launching such a vast array of resources aimed at empowering ASNs. He noted that these initiatives are not solely about providing practical tools but also about invigorating clubs to boost participation and solidify the foundations of motor sport across their regions.

With the Sport Clubs Handbook already available and the enhanced toolkit of Motor Sport in a Box set to include timekeeping equipment by 2026, the FIA is taking decisive steps to ensure that motor sport remains accessible and engaging for participants at all levels.

The FIA’s latest initiatives reflect a proactive approach to nurturing and expanding the global motor sport community. By investing in the capabilities of its member clubs and modernizing governance processes, the FIA is enhancing the sport’s infrastructure while paving the way for a vibrant future.
