Modifying existing vehicles is also heavily restricted, making it nearly impossible for enthusiasts to create their dream hot rods.

Faced with these challenges, FullGood Motors took a different route. Six years ago, the company collaborated with BYD, China’s largest automaker, to design a custom body for one of its electric sedans. The result was the Dolphin SS, a vehicle that pays homage to the first-generation Corvette. While the Dolphin SS is not a perfect replica, it serves as a thoughtful tribute to a classic American icon, especially in a country where the real article is forbidden.
However, this was just the beginning. FullGood Motors has since formalized its partnership with the Nanjing government and Jinlong, a company known for manufacturing buses. This collaboration has allowed FullGood to bring its nostalgic ideas to production on a larger scale. The company has a lineup of innovative designs, including a modern Volkswagen bus called the Summer, which features three side doors and seats that can be placed anywhere in the cabin and swivel in place.
The Evolution of the Dolphin Concept
FullGood Motors is also continuing to develop the Dolphin concept. The newer version of the Dolphin SS includes rear seats and second-row doors that are rear-hinged, adding to the vehicle’s unique appeal. But perhaps the most exciting proposal from FullGood is the Hot Rod, a vehicle that exudes the spirit of a ’30s gangster. With its bold design and innovative features, the Hot Rod is a testament to FullGood’s commitment to bringing classic American car designs to life in China.
