The picturesque town of Confienza, nestled in the province of Pavia, became the epicenter of automotive enthusiasm on Sunday, July 12, 2026. The third edition of the Volante d’Oro rally brought together 134 vintage cars and motorcycles, creating a spectacle that captivated both participants and spectators alike.
This year’s event featured an impressive lineup of iconic brands, including PorscheFerrariLamborghiniMaseratiJaguarAlfa Romeo and Lancia. The rally not only celebrated these magnificent machines but also paid homage to the rich history of automotive engineering.
The Mille Miglia Route: A Journey Through Time
At 11:00 AM, the convoy embarked on a 50-kilometer journey through the scenic landscapes of Lomellina. The route was carefully designed to retrace a section of the Mille Miglia 2026 offering participants a unique opportunity to experience the thrill of historic racing roads. The path wound through two regions, three provinces, and six communes, culminating at the ristorante Novarello where the day’s festivities concluded with a celebratory lunch and the award ceremony.
A Rare Gem: The Fiat 180 Truck
Among the standout vehicles was a Fiat 180 truck with a cisterna, representing the historic heavy-duty vehicle collection of the Gruppo Marazzato. This meticulously preserved truck, maintained in its original condition, drew considerable attention throughout the event. Its presence served as a reminder of the diverse and often overlooked history of commercial vehicles.
The Crown Jewel: Jaguar XK 120 Roadster
The highlight of the event was the awarding of the reginetta assoluta or the absolute winner of the Volante d’Oro 2026. This prestigious title was bestowed upon a Jaguar XK 120 Roadster which was honored with a gold spilla d’oro 18 carati in the shape of a steering wheel. The Jaguar’s timeless design and impeccable condition made it the undisputed star of the show.
In addition to the top prize, awards were presented to vehicles selected for their excellence within specific classes and age groups. These categories included veterani (pre-1949), vetture del boom economico (1950-1979), and youngtimer (1980-2006). Each award recognized the unique contributions of these vehicles to automotive history.
